Whilst all viruses are of some concern almost all can be prevented using Anti Virus programs and many of these are free and very effective.
We also talked about the Registry and in particular Registry Cleaners. It is recommended that a computer registry is cleaned on a regular basis to ensure that your computer is working efficiently. Once more many registry cleaners are free and we discussed in detail the suite of utilities called Glary Utilities which includes among many essential tools a good registry cleaner.
One of the more irritating changes that are made to our computers is the default when installing new applications that insist on the application running when we start our computer. We an regularly check what stars by checking with a Start up manager and we can also monitor what is going on by installing WinPatrol whch can be downloaded from
www.winpatrol.com/download.html
From then on you will have Scotty on patrol
During the second session we investigated some of the advanced tools that are bundled with Windows 7. The two that we looked ate were the very impressive Windows 7 DVD Maker which makes making aDVD from Video or photographic slide show a very simple process. The other interesting tool that we demnstrated was the new form calculator which is a major improvement on previous versions.
