Just had a look at the movie (Windows 7 preview) and found it very interesting. I had considered upgrading from XP to W7 and appreciate the suggestions by Andreas and John, My question is :- If I go for the upgrade will it involve re-formatting the hard drive and lose everything (my files and other programmes etc) or would W7 just replace the operating system? leaving everything intact?. I think John covered this subject previously but I can't remember the answer, got a feeling that all required files should be transferred to other medium i.e. memory stick,cd, or other. Question 2. I was trying to post a photo on my profile (Just a mug shot as attachment) that helps on identifying who's asking the questions but it looked a bit complicated as it seems to involve a URL. How would one go about this? Attachments:

Hi Barry, To get your pictura into your profile use a hosting service like imageshack.us/it is easy to use and gives you an URL to your picture that you then can cut and paste into the URL Line in your profile. I took the liberty to add your picture into your library so everybody knows who wrote your question about your question to upgrading to windows 7 If you are upgrading from Windows XP then you will have to save all your important data to a stick or a cd, depending on the total data you want to save , install windows 7 and all your programs and copy back your data The windows 7 Installation will create a Directory called windows.old THere you will find your old data If your Harddrive does not have a minimum of 20 better 50 GB free capacity then save your data and reformat Greetings from Polop Andreas

Hello Andreas,
Thanks for info and adding my picture to the profile.
I have another problem which I'll post on the board, this seems a fantastic way to ask questions, the Saturday sessions are good but my writing isn't, this way I can refer to the notes and don't have to rely on my hearing, hand and eye co-ordination to get the right information on paper.
