Unfortunately there was a problem with the projector today so we had to have a couple of sessions which were mainly discussions.
Microsoft have released details of their proposed pricing for Microsoft Office 2010 which should be released later this year. The proposed pricing is as follows:
Microsoft Office Home and Business £240
Microsoft office Home and Student £110
If you have downloaded the free Beta version it is probably advisable to use this up to September when it will expire and then revert to a previous version or switch to Open Office which is free.
One member had received a warning that they had become infected with js/downloader.agent. On checking it would appear that this is a false warning from AVG which identifies it correctly as a java script file and issues a warning that it may be dangerous. There would appear to be no risk to this warning.
All members should beware that there are a number of problems being reported using Facebook. Before joining it is advisable to check how private your information is and be aware that there is a lot of Facebook impersonation notices being generated. Check by searching in your search engine by typing in Facebook Impersonation.
Microsoft are now offering a choice of Intenet Browser to meet with EU regulations. You should receive an icon for Browsaer Choice following any Windows Update which if you are using Internet Explorer will offer you the choice of downloading Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera.
A discussion was held giving suggeations as to what to look for if purchasing a new Desktop or laptop computer in the near future.
Much of the subject matter will be revisited next Saturday when we have a projector and can show members details of whatwas discussed this week.
